Earlier this month, we held the first-ever Plant Providence workshop in Spanish at Templot Community Garden in Olneyville. The workshop was taught by Jairo Rosales, the garden leader at Templot and a graduate of an agricultural university in Honduras. He talked about the importance of good soil and sun exposure and encouraged everyone to plant vegetables and herbs that are native to the area, so they can withstand the cold. He also showed participants how to direct-seed plants in the ground and prepare seed starter mix.
The Templot garden (located at the intersection of Appleton and Bowdoin Streets next to Olneyville Housing Corporation) will be the host site for all of the Beginner Organic Grower series workshops in Spanish; join us on July 10th for the second part of the series on Weeding, Harvesting, and Cultivating Fall Crops! (The English version will be held July 9th at Cadillac Drive Community Garden in the Elmwood Armory area.)

A principios de este mes, se celebró el primer taller de Plant Providence en Español al Jardín Comunitario de Templot en Olneyville. El taller fue impartido por Jairo Rosales, el líder del jardín de Templot y un graduado de una universidad agrícola en Honduras. Habló sobre la importancia de buen suelo y la exposición al sol y alentó a todos a usar a las verduras y hierbas que son nativas de esta zona, porque puedan soportar el frío. También mostró a los participantes cómo sembrar las semillas en la tierra y preparar la mezcla de semillas de arranque.
El jardín Templot (ubicado a la intersección de las calles Appleton y Bowdoin al lado de Olneyville Housing Corporation) será el lugar para todos los talleres para la serie de cultivadores orgánicos principiantes en Español.
