Update: As of 2012, the Plant Providence educational workshops will be $5 per person, except for the free Beginning Organic Grower Series Workshops, workshops hosted by the URI Outreach Center at the Roger Williams Park Community Garden, or unless otherwise noted. This change reflects the cost of staff-time, admin, design and printing costs. All workshops are free for Providence Community Growers Network members. The Plant Providence Calendar started in 2009 as an initiative of Southside Community Land Trust in partnership with the city-wide Urban Agriculture Task Force. It serves as an organized public resource that lists events and educational workshops related to gardening and food production going on across the city.
Year after year, the Plant Providence Calendar workshops grow in number, topic variety and language diversity. The mission is to reach as many people throughout all kinds of communities to make growing food more accessible to all. It is a community and city-wide effort to make Providence and greater Providence more and more edible!
